I attended Saturdays' Governor's Ball and while it my first time at the festival, I squeezed in about 4 hours of coverage and managed to see two magnificent acts: Jon Bellion and Thundercat.
With his debut album dropping Friday (6/10), Jon Bellion displayed looks of excitement and confidence when he made his way to the Big Apple Stage. Always accompanied by his band of brothers, Beautiful Mind, the whole crew had the crowd going wild once they touched the stage. Beach balls were thrown around (the whole band even signed one!), Jon created a make-shift stand to incorporate his MPC skills, and the audience stretched as far as a football field. The Capitol Records signee, opened with unreleased material then went right into the fan favorites. "All Time Low," "Run Wild," and "Guillotine" (featuring Travis Mendes), just to name a few.
Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner was dazzled in his bejeweled glasses as he set the jam session vibes during his performance at the Bicardi House. Showing off his excellent musicianship, Thundercat and his band mates put some on some smooth sounds and improvising on known tracks like "Them Changes" and Kendrick Lamar's "Complexion."
